Review: Rolex Sky-Dweller Dual-Tone 326933
Sky-Dweller is Rolex’s most complicated and the newest product line that was introduced in 2012. The dual-tone model in this review is the only Rolex watch I own. It was not my first choice but the Rolex steel sports watches were just too hard to get. However, after 1.5 years owning it, I would say that Sky-Dweller would be still my pick for a one watch Rolex collection, due to its superior functionalities, ingenious ring command bezel and versatility.
The Sky-Dweller combines two of the most useful complications in one: annual calendar and GMT function. With the annual calendar, the date needs to be adjusted only once a year, on March 1. The month indication is a red dot along the 12 baton indices, a smart design not seen in other watches. The second time-zone of the GMT function is indicated by a separate 24 hour ring, similar to the ring used in many worldtimers. The clever ring command bezel design enables complex operations with just one crown. Notice that many GMT watches cannot provide quick date change, as the crown position is used to change GMT time. To me, this function is really fun to use and Sky-Dweller is more like a James Bond watch than any other models.
The timing accuracy is +0.9 seconds measured over 15 days. The power reserve is 72 hours.
The case is 42mm in diameter and 14.10mm in thickness. It is a heavy watch and you will feel the weight from time to time. The steel and yellow gold combo looks quite classic and elegant to me, but this is really a personal preference.
Sky-Dweller is a very versatile timepiece. It is a travel watch with the GMT function and it is a sports watch, thanks to its 100 meter watch resistance. It is suitable for business meetings and office use too for middle or senior professionals.
